USCIS Releases New Data on Current and Historical CAP H-1B Registration Selection and Approval Metrics (FY 2025)

Summary:

USCIS recently released data about how many cap H-1B lottery registrations were selected for case submission for FY (Fiscal Year) 2025 (the current Cap fiscal year) in relation to annual H-1B quota levels for each respective year, and in relation to the total approval rates for submitted petitions. The data shows the following:

FY 2025 Cap registration period:

  • 470,242 Eligible registrations submitted (-38.6% under FY 2024).
  • 114,017 Beneficiaries initially selected by USCIS

FY 2024 Cap registration period:

  • 758,994 Eligible registrations submitted by employers
  • 110,791 Registrations selected by USCIS in total

The initial information and data from the registration period show a decrease in attempts to gain an unfair advantage compared to previous years.  USCIS is attributing this decline to the implementation of the new beneficiary-centric selection process and the thorough fraud investigations conducted.
