About the Paralegal Role

Meltzer Hellrung seeks a Paralegal (internal level based on experience). As a Paralegal, you will utilize your existing employment-based immigration experience to partner with internal legal teams and provide account management services to clients and stakeholders. Our paralegals work in close collaboration with each other, our attorneys, and our clients. Paralegals drive processes to completion and take on significant client account management responsibilities.

Duties:

  • In collaboration with attorneys, the role will require an individual who is extremely proficient in legal writing, demanding a heavy emphasis on drafting, reviewing, and editing a wide range of complex legal documents for petitions including EB-1A, O-1, NIW, and similar:
    • Articulate complex legal concepts clearly, concisely, and persuasively, ensuring all written communications are meticulously accurate, adhere to proper legal formatting, and maintain a professional and authoritative tone suitable for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Preparation, filing, and tracking of employment-based immigration petitions,
    • Conducting document collection and review for employer-sponsored immigration cases
    • Maintain immigration case files and deadlines within our case management platforms, ensuring timely filings and compliance with federal regulations
    • Collaborate with attorneys, HR teams, and clients to gather necessary information.
  • Manage assigned client accounts with general oversight from attorney(s), pushing processes forward based on own initiative, and completing assignments within firm expectation.
  • Monitor emails and chat messages, responding to internal requests from senior legal team and/or responding to external stakeholders as required. Meltzer Hellrung guarantees a one business day response time to client communication.
  • Support assigned clients in data reporting as needed, such as expiration reports, initiation projections, status reports, etc.
  • Responsible for reviewing updates published by the firm and other legal team members to stay abreast of changes in immigration.

About you:

  • At least 3 years of experience working with U.S. employment-based visas
  • Required experience working with O-1, NIW, EB-1A\B, and/or L-1 is a must; experience in all case types above are necessary.
  • Required experience with other complex casework, including Requests for Evidence (RFE), NOID responses, and similar.

Salary: $40,000 – $80,000 based on geographic area of residence and experience, plus bonus and benefits.
