Michael F. Turansick serves as Senior Counsel at Meltzer Hellrung and brings the firm’s clients over thirty years of immigration practice management experience. He has supported clients in a diverse range of industries, from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies. During his career, he has represented companies in the banking, finance, IT consulting, management consulting, technology (hardware and software), automotive, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, agribusiness, and food service industries, among others.

Michael has provided counsel on a broad range of issues, including strategic immigration program management, developing immigration sponsorship policies designed to enhance efficiency and employee satisfaction, managing H-1B petition and labor certification strategies for mid to large volume petitioners, and compliance management, including a full scope Form I-9 audit and training for a Fortune 500 company. He also regularly conducts client training sessions and informational meetings to help clients maintain awareness of the latest legal and policy developments.

Michael began his career as an immigration lawyer working for a boutique firm in New York City and subsequently moved to a larger global immigration firm where he served as a Partner in both their New York and Chicago offices. He was promoted to Managing Partner of the firm’s Chicago office in 2003. Prior to joining Meltzer Hellrung, he worked in a Government Relations capacity as a Senior Policy and Practice Counsel for the American Immigration Lawyers Association, where he regularly consulted with senior government officials and congressional staff on immigration policy initiatives.

Michael has long believed maintaining constant awareness that the future success of his clients, both the companies he represents and their foreign national employees, is inexorably interconnected to his work and that achieving the highest possible level of service is a fundamental imperative and essential to helping clients achieve their goals.
