ICE Will Give Employers Until August 30, 2023 to Comply with Physical Inspection of Documents for I-9
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the end of the rules of Form I-9 compliance that it initially granted in 2020. The rule which provides increased flexibility in response to ongoing COVID concerns, will expire July 31, 2023.
ICE is allowing a 30 day grace period, until August 30, 2023, to complete the physical inspection of I-9 documentation. However, any employees who began as completely remote and are now beginning non-remote employment, must complete the physical inspection of the I-9 documentation within 3 business days of non-remote employment.
